Gobelin-Frottage

A cooperation with the City of Hof | Department of Culture.
My colleagues Susanne WinterProf. Martina Ziegenthaler and I developed a design concept for the redesign of the large meeting room in the Hof town hall.
We took the large historical tapestry, which should no longer be part of the room, and rubbed its structure onto paper. This technique is called ‘frottage’. The frottage of the original tapestry serves as a template for a new jacquard woven fabric. Although the new fabric is not even similar to the original gobelin-tapestry, its spirit is still preserved.

In 2024, two large-format jacquard woven artworks will become part of the interior design.
